Do’s & Don’ts : Computer

Do’s

  • Use power save mode when not in use.

  • Use clean power and have a clean power supply (either UPS or stabilizer) for your desk top.

  • Do not forget to check the earth voltage while installation. Voltage between neutral and earth should not be more than 5 V ideally.

  • Keep it covered when not in use to avoid dust.

  • Have sufficient light on the person / area facing the web camera.

  • Use legal anti virus to avoid frequent problems, specially when you are connecting to internet.

  • You can change the security level of your Internet Explorer to HIGH in case you do not want your children to get exposed to unsolicited sites.

Dont’s

  • Keep dust cover on the monitor or the CPU while in use. This would block the natural ventilation designed for the respective instruments and result in damage soon.

  • Cover the monitor immediately with dust cover after you power off the machine. This will retain the heat inside the instruments. Keep it open for natural cooling for some time and then cover the machines.

  • Disconnect USB devices with power on. Pl. disable the same before disconnecting.

  • Connect printer to computer with both equipments powered on. This may damage either the port in computer or the printer.

  • Avoid cluttering of wires around your desk top computer.

  • Copy or install any software / games procured without paying license fees ( unless it is a freeware). It is illegal and official action can be taken against you.
